Title: Medical Director, Medical Research Fellowship Program
Dr. Ali Pourmand is a Professor of Emergency Medicine who serves as the Medical Director of the Medical Research Fellowship Program for international medical graduates managed by the Office of International Medicine Programs. He is also Director of the Scribe program and Extreme Environment Fellowship Program in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the George Washington University (GW) School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS).
Dr. Pourmand’s primary interests are in education and research. He has published more than 150 papers widely on the use of technology to improve and supplement emergency medicine education, clinical medicine, and ultrasound. He has also presented his research at national and international meetings including the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and Society for Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM). His blog on Emergency Medicine Education has had more than one million visitors.
Dr. Pourmand is also involved in teaching undergraduate students, medical students, residents, and fellows, specifically focusing on evidence-based medicine, and developed a research track in Emergency Medicine which allows medical students and residents to participate in scholarly projects and obtain peer-reviewed publications.
