Background

Fernando Vidal-Vanaclocha, MD, PhD, is the Research Director for the Office of International Medicine Programs (IMP) and Research Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine at the School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS). 

Dr. Vidal-Vanaclocha brings more than 30 years of research experience in translational cancer metastasis and cancer microenvironment to IMP, and has been founding scientific director of several translational research centers and biotech companies. He has served as associate dean for research and international affairs in several medical schools in Spain and as chair of the organizing committee for international scientific meetings in the fields of cancer and hepatic research.

As Research Director, Dr. Vidal-Vanaclocha assists with IMP's Global Research Initiative by enhancing research collaborations with international medical and research institutions in Europe, the Middle East, and South America. He also supports the management and coordination of the GW Global Physician Scientist and international scientific meetings, provides international training courses in molecular and precision medicine, and serves as a GW Global Health Mentor.
