KKU’s medical school was established in 1972 and was the first in the northeast region of Thailand and a leading academic center. Interdisciplinary and integrative teaching and research are particular strengths of KKU’s mission and to produce medical practitioners as well as a range of complementary support scientists and lectures to serve Thailand, especially in the Northeast region. KKU provides an outstanding opportunity for students to partake in rotations at the Srinagarind (University) Hospital.

Focus Areas: Community Health, Endemic Health Research, Family Medicine, treatment of cholangiocarcinoma, thalassemia, melioidosis, renal, calculi, and cleft lip/palate restoration and Women’s Health
MS1 Summer Internship: Srinagarind Hospital has a worldwide reputation for its treatment of cholangiocarcinoma, thalassemia, melioidosis, renal, calculi, and cleft lip/palate restoration as well as its dynamic community outreach. Students have the option of observing in the same specialties as MSIV and to research various health aspects.
MSIV Clinical Elective: Clinical rotations are available in these areas: Rural and Tropical Disease Medicine, and other specialties through the Srinagarind (University) Hospital.
Application Process: IMP will contact the site on behalf of the student. All students must also complete a KKU paper application form to be officially accepted by KKU. Once IMP has site confirmation, student will need to complete GW Passport online application.
Estimated Costs: The host institution will help students arrange private apartments which should be a close walk to campus. Average apartment rent is 6,000-10,000 Baht a month (not including electricity bill and water tap charge). Students must also pay a deposit of ~3,000 Baht (which is returned upon check-out). Laundry is about ~500 Baht a month. Host institution will cover airport transportation. Meals are not included, and average cost is 100-200 Baht per meal.
