Universidad Latina is a private university that has campuses throughout Costa Rica. The main campus is located in San Pedro, San Jose, Costa Rica. The university was founded in 1989 and offers clinical electives to students at Hospital San Rafael, Alajuela Hospital and other institutions in and around the San Jose region. Students may select a clinical specialty or basic science. Knowledge of Spanish is helpful for this elective.

MS1 Summer Internship: U. Latina offers summer internships for students at the Hospital San Rafael in infectious disease. Other areas of Internal Medicine as well as Tropical Disease are available too.
MSIV Clinical Elective: Clinical rotations are available: Medicine and subspecialties; Pediatrics and subspecialties; Family Practice; Anesthesiology; Emergency Medicine; Clinical Neuroscience; Ophthalmology; Surgery and subspecialties and Urology
Application Process: IMP will contact the site on behalf of the student. Once IMP has site confirmation, student will need to complete GW Passport online application.
Estimated Costs: The best housing option is home stays. The students will be more comfortable, and in terms of money, that option is the most accessible one. The host institution will provide a database of housing options, and they also have information about local apartment if the student wants more privacy. Average costs of housing in $550, but negotiations can be made. Normally breakfast and dinner are included in the housing fee (as well as laundry). Airport transportation is the responsibility of the student and can be ~$30. Meals outside are not expensive and can range from $3-$7.
