University of San Pablo (USP) was founded 75 years ago in Madrid, Spain to form the future leaders of Spanish society. MS1 Summer Internship: Students have the unique opportunity to enroll in the Translational Research Elective in key specialty fields and medical disciplines at the Institute of Applied Molecular Medicine (IMMA) and translational research facility devoted to human subject research at USP. There will be direct experience in study of patients enrolled in investigational protocols for diagnostic and therapeutic innovation with the help of experimental bioassays and biotechnologic product developments under the co-mentorship of clinical and preclinical medicine scientists and faculty. Participants will learn fundamental principles of translational research within a two-sided research track, from bedside to bench and thereafter from bench to bedside.

Application Process: IMP will contact the site on behalf of the student. Once IMP has site confirmation, student will need to complete GW Passport online application. MS IV will be required to complete the USP paper application and submit to IMP, in addition to the GW Passport online application.
Estimated Cost of Living: Students usually do home stays where the apartments are shared with other students or families.The minimum time of stay is 90 days (between September 1st and February 28th) and 30 days between March 1 and August 1. In the case of lodging with families the minimum stay is 30 days at any time of the year. The price of each room in Madrid varies from $306 to $650 per month. All the student apartments are fully furnished and have in addition to the bedrooms, a dining room, fully equipped kitchen, and at least a full toilet. Laundry services are included in this housing fee. However food is not provided in housing fees, and students can expect to pay $35/day for food/beverages.
